Bug Description

I am using a Lenovo Thinkpad X200 with Ubuntu 9.04 Alpha 3 (fully updated). With the update of pulseaudio thursday, something went wrong (worked well up until this update).

Symptoms: Sound doesn't work, mute button on thinkpad doesn't do anything, volume up/down works (icon comes up and slider goes up and down, still no sound).

If I kill pulseaudio process manually and execute "start-pulseaudio-x11" from rxvt, sound starts working again.

I am not sure if this is really a pulseaudio problem or if it caused by something gnome-related, but I thought I'd report it against pulseaudio.

From dpkg:

ii pulseaudio 0.9.14-0ubuntu2 PulseAudio sound server

This sounds like a duplicate of 322374, could you please test if there is a startup sound? If there is a startup sound and after that system->preferences->sound lists no output devices, please mark this as duplicate of that bug.

Marked as duplicate. If the other bug had a mention of the word "pulseaudio" (one word) and/or "sound" it would be easier to find.
