rhythmbox hangs after pressing play for audio cd

When trying to play an audio CD, rhythmbox grays out after a 10 seconds or so. I expected to hear some audio from the disc.
I grabbed a backtrace and also ran rb using debug mode on the command line. I have attached the backtrace
