Pulseaudio often eats 100% cpu, sometimes crashes

Bug Description

Up-to-date intrepid running on x86 hardware in 32 bit mode, pulseaudio package version is 0.9.10-2ubuntu7. While playing movies with mplayer, the movie often (usually after 5-10 minutes) freezes for 10 seconds or so, then it continues. During that time I discovered that pulseaudio process eats all idle CPU. After some seconds pulseaudio's CPU usage goes lower and movie continues. Sometimes however pulseaudio process completely disappears from process list (crash).

Could you plesae try the following:

Comment out the following lines in /etc/pulseaudio/daemon.conf
default-fragments = 8
default-fragment-size-msec = 10

If that doesn't help, try and comment out another line in the same file, which is the following:
esample-method = speex-float-1

Please let me knwo whether your CPU usage for pulseaudio changes.

Thanks

Commenting our you've mentioned did not help :( And also, now the sound even "stammer" in little chunks and the problems I've described are still here (no crash yet though, but the other).
