Bug Description

Hi

The BT microphones is not working in Ubuntu / pulseaudio . Have tried several BT headset and none is working in Ubuntu. The Ubuntu guys ask me to open a case here (the case ID from Ubuntu is: 00338011

---- but here is a summery ---------
I have never had a single one working. The one I have at my hand is
* JLab GO Work
It is connecting and shows up in the sound settings for the output - and give s sound out but not for the input.
I have ad several Jabra from work also not working regarding the microphone.
And before - and now - I have a BT set from Sony. Also not working regarding the microphone.
All above are working at the Android phones, tables *and* Microsoft systems

From Ubuntu support

--------------------------------

I did various tests and discussed the problem with the OEM team. Here is a quick summary:

- We don't have a list of supported Bluetooth headsets. The main problem here is that only a very limited number of vendors publish their source code and this makes it very difficult to have a compatibility list

- The OEM team suggests opening a bug on launchpad for PulseAudio in order to leverage the community support. You can do this by using the link at [1]

- The OEM team tested only with one model which is "Lenovo HE05" and it works (I'm waiting for an official confirmation for this. I cannot guarantee!)

- During the last few days, I did some tests on my laptop (Dell XPS 15 9500). Actually, I'm using "JBL T450BT" and it works but, if I enable the built-in microphone, the audio quality switches to mono instead of stereo. Another test I did, is to use Pipewire instead of PulseAudio, which will be adopted (presumably) in Ubuntu 22.10 as the default but nothing changes in my own setup. Still, mono instead of stereo when enabling the microphone (If interested you can try to switch to Pipewire on Focal using the link at [2] (note that this is not an official guide and should be used as a reference only)

--------------------------------

This workarounds are not suitable for the general use and specific as we - at our firm has to use BT.

Any ideas ?

Best
