Bug Description

after a normal update, sound gives error of "Failed to set the selected audio output device". This error is in the audio/video system settings. pulseaudio does not seem to be running, and won't start with pulseaudio --start command.

More than happy to provide additional info if needed. This is Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS, fresh install a few months ago, audio was working as expected up until update to 3.13.0-53 kernel. Reverting the kernel with grub back to earlier ones did not restore the audio.
