Bug Description

Hi,

I upgraded to Saucy Salamander the last week. Sound output was working normally until today. Today I had to use Mumble to talk to my team, but sound input was not working, so I tried switching from PulseAudio to Alsa in the Mumble configuration, and that made my whole sound (input and output) go away. I can't hear anything anymore, neither in Mumble, or in the sound test from system settings, or in Rhythmbox, or anything else. No sound at all.

Can you guys help me sort this out, please?

Ah, thanks, I haven't noticed that. However, I had to do this in order to
get my sound input working again:

BTW, not sure if I should open a new issue here, but, pulseaudio input is not working for me in Mumble and Skype. Even though I can see the audio meters moving in pavucontrol, I can't get any sound from my mic in any of those programs. It works fine in Audacity, though.

Upgraded from 13.04 to 13.10 and lost my audio. I am using nvidia HDMI. I tried the workaround referenced above with no luck. I tried a bunch of different nvidia drivers with no luck. Everything in the GUIs looks fine but no sound emits. This set up was working fine in 13.04. Not sure if this falls under this bug or if I should open a separate one, please advise.

Hi! I'm the guy of #11
At that time I upgraded to Mint16 by changing raring to saucy in the ppas, and after some days heard that the sound had problem.
I requested help from the manufacturer of the computer, since it was under guarantee, and he reported : No problem, it works under Windows.

I checked myself and found he was right..... and then I had to reinstall Mint16, from a DVD obviously.
Doing so fixed the sound. Don't ask me how !
