Bug Description

My laptop has dedicated nvidia graphic and i use bumblebee to support this. When i plug HDMI display works good, but hdmi audio dont work. When i want to use HDMI audio, i execute this commands:

amixer set -c 0 IEC958 Playback Switch 100 unmute (or i change in alsamixer S/PDIF to unmute)
vlc -A alsa,none --alsa-audio-device plughw:0,3

When i plug HDMI and run vlc without above commands, i cant chose other channel.

HDMI does not even appear as an option in the Sound Settings under "Play sound through". I had it working in archlinux before I switched back to Ubuntu 13.04. There I had three options: Analog, Digital and HDMI.

As for the reporter, video works great over HDMI.

If you have an NV84 or NVA3 chip (see http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/CodeNames/) this should be fixed in the upstream 3.10 kernel for the NV84. There is a corresponding patch for the NVA3 which will be included either in the upstream 3.11 kernel or the upstream 3.12 kernel.
