Bug Description

When I start the laptop and login the first time sound works fine. However when I logout and login again sound does not work but the sound indicator is not muted.

To get sound working I first have to click mute and then unmute on the sound indicator.

This happens on 12.04 and 12.10.

(This is my first bug report ... hope it's useful)

I've played with my laptop a little bit more more and this behavior appears only if a headphone is pluged in and the sound indicator in the login screen is muted (tested with two different headphones).
