sound choppy after wakeup from standby/sleep

when my PC goes into sleep acpi s3/s5 and i wake it up - the sound is choppy and terrible.

not always reproducible.
there is sometimes different behaviour when the computer went to "sleep" with sound playing or without playing sound...

I have the exact same problem on Raring and it seems to happen since pulseaudio was updated to 1:2.1-0ubuntu4 (i'm not entirely sure)

Ubuntu 12.10 (quantal) reached end-of-life on May 16, 2014.
