Turning off my Logitech H800 headphones doesn't result in audio switching to the internal speaker

Bug Description

After turning off my Logitech H800 headphones Audio Settings shows the internal speaker as selected but there is no audio until I select the headphones and then select the internal speaker.

I'm running 12.10 updated as of August 23, 2012 at 14:00 UTC.

Ubuntu 12.10 (quantal) reached end-of-life on May 16, 2014.
