Bug Description

Binary package hint: pstoedit

This is a wish: is it possible to package the version 3.45 of pstoedit? Version 3.44 (included in Gutsy) presents a very nasty bug in conjunction with ghostscript 8.61 (see bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/123499 ). I strongly believe that this bug affects one of the most useful feature of inkscape.

Here's the changelog of the package that confirms that it's broken in 3.44:

I've actually run into this problem when converting postscript to svg using the plot-svg format option in version 3.44. I built some packages of the latest version that work correctly with the version of ghostscript in gutsy (I know almost nothing about package maintenance, though, so they're probably wrong in all kinds of ways):

Thanks for the packages Devin. I am sorry I cannot test them right now
but I already using my self compiled package and I am also in a
high-inkscpape-use period and cannot risk to break it now.
Hope to test them ASAP!
Ale

Just tested Devin Kennedy's (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pstoedit/+bug/156365/comments/1) packages and they work perfectly.

Thanks Devin

Devin Kennedy, can you supply fixed(modified) source code of pstoedit or place it's binary version for amd64 architecture?

I can confirm that I too had this bug, and that it was fixed by Devin Kennedy's packages. However, I did get into a little dependency hell with Devin's files - I had to install about 20 further packages of about 60MB in order to calm the dependencies, but I was happy to do that to get the app working...

By the way, there is a small bug in svg output of pstoedit 3.45 and I cant see easily who to email about it. There doesnt appear to be any contact info at the website http://www.helga-glunz.homepage.t-online.de/pstoedit/index.htm

The bug is that on conversion the new files have missing spaces in front of some keywords. This is generally:
"stroke-dashoffset

which needs to be changed to:
" stroke-dashoffset

but also I had one occurrence of:
"fill

which needed to be changed to:
" fill

The editing can be don in any editor. Firefox is good for telling you where the parse error is.
