Bug Description
Log level is permanently set to "debug" and smokeping-prober floods logs with every ICMP packet it receives:
Aug 15 13:32:03 arwen prometheus-
Aug 15 13:32:03 arwen prometheus-
Aug 15 13:32:03 arwen prometheus-
I tried to set log level to info (which should be the default) and error - no difference (ps shows the command line option is present).
I checked the upstream version in the container and the package from Ubuntu 24.04 - the problem is not present in those versions, it's only in Ubuntu 22.04. Unfortunately I can't upgrade this server now.
Possibly related: while searching the web, I found Debian bug #1010054 for another Prometheus exporter, but someone mentions similar log in Smokeping and explains: "the log level is not set correctly if the exporter still uses go-kit/kit/log (instead of the newer go-kit/log) and is built with prometheus/common v0.26.0 or later."
