Bug Description

Binary package hint: prism-google-mail

There is a notification popup that says "You have new email; you have ### unread emails" that is apparently built into the Gmail Prism app which is in the repositories for Ubuntu Heron.

It's very annoying because there is no setting to turn it off, it appears too often to be useful, gives useless information ("You have 30426 unread emails"), and it makes it impossible to access part of the desktop until it slides down.

I can't find any options or preferences for this Prism app.

Ubuntu version: "This version (Hardy Heron) was released in April 2008 so its version number is 8.04."

I agree, I was surprised the first time I saw it. It's a nice feature, but there should be some options to better control it.

As Prism is still in a beta stage, it is a bit inconvenient to fiddle with that sort of thing, but in the meantime you can just browse to the location of the Prism gmail app (wherever your Prism install landed, followed by /<email address hidden>, for example) and remove the webapp.js file, which in this release only contains the mail notification code.

I know it's not the BEST solution, but it's all that is available for now.

Cheers,
JV
