Bug Description

I'm running Ubuntu Karmic in a virtual machine with all the latest updates. I just installed Freedoom and prboom. The game crashes every time I try to start a new game or soon after I change any setting.

How to reproduce:
-Install freedoom.
-Attempt to run freedoom.
-Start a new game on any difficulty.

What happens:
-The game crashes. No error messages are given. Apport does not attempt to automatically generate a crash report.

What should happen:
-The game should start normally and be playable.

Terminal output is attached.

Since this is in a virtual machine, I'd be happy to upload a copy of the hard drive or any other related files, if anybody wants them.

affects: ubuntu → prboom (Ubuntu)

Can you tell us a bit more about your VM? What CPU type (x86? amd64?) how much memory have you given it?

can you also try prboom with -nosound?

it's got 1024 MB of RAM, ACPI enabled, 1 cpu (x86 i think) with PAE/NX enabled, nested paging enabled, VT-x/AMD-V enabled, 40 MB of video memory with 3d acceleration enabled, the IDE controller type PIIX4, a 15.00 GB hard disk, an ICH AC97 audio controller, a PCnet-FAST III (Am79C973) ethernet controller attached to NAT, a USB 2.0 controller, a serial port enabled on COM1 but disconnected (IRQ 4, I/O port 0x3f8, and one shared folder.

I'll try running prboom again later, with and without the -nosound option.
