Bug Description

I believe the following is a distribution problem. I installed pptp-linux and the necessary network manager pptp components on my 9.04 system. I cannot connect, but most importantly the connection attempt fails immediately with a modem hangup. There is no attempt to launch any components and negotiate.

The reason I believe this is a distribution problem is before my laptop was repaired under warranty, vpn was working in the prior release to 9.04; I upgraded to 9.04 from that prior release; and vpn continued to work.

I have looked out on the web and tried some of the recommendations listed in the answers to this question, but cannot get vpn running.

I am willing to do the work, but do not know what packages to add or configure, until this is fixed in the regular distribution.

I'll gladly add any files needed from my distro, if the person(s) handling this bug would request which files.
Thanks.

I keep my system continually updated. This is the latest error in syslog. Are there any workarounds?
