Bug Description

When init scripts are running and hotplug init script starts up and if you configured a ppp modem-connection by 'pppconfig', modem switches on and tries to connect. Sometimes, esd daemon shutdowns down.

This problem is fixed by writing the 'hsfpcibasic2' module in the hotplug blacklist.

Driver works well and ppp-connections are established correctly.

This is hsfconfig --info:

Device instance: 0-PCI-14f1:2f00-14f1:2004
HW revision : Basic2 2.18 Standard DAA 3VoltsIA
HW profile name: hsfpcibasic2hsfi

License status : XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Current region : XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

It is not a opensource driver. For any detail or support, you have more information at http://www.linuxant.com/.

Moreover, this problem wouldn't have appeared if I haven't bought a winmodem.

I have had the same problem with the linuxant hsf modem. Also, it drops out after 4 or 5 minuets on line.
Tech support from Linuxant came down to offering several init strings that lowered the modem connect speed, and in the end the admission that there were modulation issues within their conexant code that had not been solved.

I solved the problem by using a USB to serial cable, and a Diamond SuperExpress 56 PRO hardware mopdem, and droping the Linuxant driver.

This has worked flawlessly, except for the fact that the modem diaols up as soon as the desktop is loaded.

This bug was misclassified. The reported issue is not related to the package 'soundmodem' (which is an Amateur Packet Radio package).

I have reclassified this issue as a bug in package 'pppconfig'.

affects: soundmodem (Ubuntu) → pppconfig (Ubuntu)
