Bug Description

After two last updates (I remember second one was also a kernel update) my Ubuntu has started sudden crashing, either desktop view freezes, sometimes sound which was played goes to fast circuit. Sometimes it crashes to full terminal screen, reporting kernel panic mode. I'm sorry I dont know how to find these crash reports from my Ubuntu, hope you can advice me. After crash, only thing possible is to reset my laptop manually.

Ubuntu has also started to inform internal failure with powerd, and asks to report them to developers. I think I have send that report three times now.

I updated my system on September 17th, last update was for libcgmonitor0 and the second last update was a dist-upgrade for new kernel after this I have been facing the same problems. My system crashes mainly due to some problem caused by iwlwifi module. I would be providing more information and the crash dumps soon.

I used the following command I found over a forum, It seems to be helpful, I have tried this and would share if it works or not...

sudo apt-get install --install-recommends linux-generic-lts-vivid xserver-xorg-core-lts-vivid xserver-xorg-lts-vivid xserver-xorg-video-all-lts-vivid xserver-xorg-input-all-lts-vivid libwayland-egl1-mesa-lts-vivid

I am not an expert and doesn't exactly know what it does, however, I do know that in my case this upgraded my kernel from 3.13 series to 3.19 series. I am hopeful that the crashes would stop as they were a kernel problem, anyhow, I would tell if it works.

The frequency of crashes has dropped significantly but they are still happening. During 3 hour period, I used to have 5-6 crashes but now system only crashed once.
