postgresql-8.4 failed to install in jaunty-backports (unmet dependency)

If i try to install postgresql-8.4 from jaunty-backports it fails because unmet dependency postgresql-common (>= 104~)

and postgresql-common is just 101~jaunty1

Same problem here with Hardy Backports

# aptitude install postgresql-8.4

Need to get 5942kB of archives. After unpacking 17,0MB will be used.
The following packages have unmet dependencies:

I've got the same problem in 8.04.4 LTS and Ubuntu 8.04.3 LTS. Is there a workaround? I'd rather not build from source if I don't have to.
