strange glyphs when selecting text

Hi,

When I select text in a file that comes from pdflatex, the selected (greyed) text turns into strange glyphs, a combination
of random uppercase letters and squares.

I can paste the selected text, but it looks ugly (my document is in a non-english, accentuated language)
