pdftops from poppler-utils 0.5.9-0ubuntu1 produces broken postscript

While debugging a problem with printing PDFs it came out that pdftops from poppler-utils 0.5.9-0ubuntu1 produces broken postscript.
When trying to view it with evince I get the following error on the terminal:

Downgrading poppler-utils and libpoppler1 to the previous version (0.5.4-6ubuntu1) produces working postscript.

http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org/33252/ contains the diff between the two generated postscript files.

The test PDF was a simple OO.o document containing only the word test and exported as PDF.
