Bug Description

Binary package hint: pommed

I just upgraded my June 2009 MacBook Pro from Karmic to Lucid. Now when I look at "top," I often catch pommed eating 2—4% of CPU time for protracted periods of time (10 seconds or more). Can't be good!

Same issue with a 2009 white Macbook (5,2) running Lucid beta. Pommed is constantly at around 15 % CPU time. As a result, the fan is on most of the time and battery life is down to 2 hours (4 hours running OSX). This is not ideal...

Pommed is using about 3 % of my CPU (MBP 7,1), it's checking the light sensor every 200 ms. If I change the frequency (KBD_TIMEOUT in kbd_backlight.h) to every 10 s and recompile, it uses only 0.2 - 0.3 %.
