Bug Description

The binary polkit-gnome-authorization is currently included in the package policykit-gnome. Unfortunately, this binary uses the wrong location when searching for policy files... as a result, policy files that are placed in the correct location /usr/share/polkit-1/actions are not shown in the interface.

TODO:
i) Move polkit-gnome-authorization application to package policykit-1-gnome
ii) Make polkit-gnome-authorization use the correct location for policy files
iii) Make policykit-gnome and policykit-1-gnome conflict

Hi,

As I understand it one of the aims of polkit-1 is to avoid the quite horrible
interface of polkit-gnome-authorization. Therefore there is work underway
to allow some control in the applications themselves, and multiple backend
support so that management can be folded in to existing infrastructure for
those that require managing privileges of lots of users.

Therefore I don't see polkit-gnome-authorization being ported to polkit-1,
and the transition will lead to it being removed.

Discussion of policykit development takes place on

   http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/polkit-devel

so if you would like to help shape the way this will work please
discuss it there.

Thanks,

James
