Issue seems to habe been fixed on upstream 1.4.5. Unknown fix.

Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. ubuntu 9.10 reached EOL on 2012-04-10.
Please see this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases:

So now the only affected release should be lucid, since every other release has the 1.4.6 release.
