Bug Description

Please add support for the LABEL= and UUID= syntax in /etc/fstab.

For example, when pmount is called by HAL and looks for a fstab entry, it should parse /etc/fstab not only for the device node but also for a LABEL= and a UUID= instead. If it finds them, it should chain to mount as well.

This allows removable media to appear at predictable places in the filesystem.

For this to be really useful, probably e2fsprogs bug #1360103 should be fixed
first (http://e2fsprogs.sourceforge.net/), otherwise the LABEL= and UUID= syntax
will not work for encrypted devices.

Actually, the bug number is 1360106 (upstream) and #13939 (Ubuntu).

Confirming this problem with pmount 0.9.6-1~breezy1 in Breezy.

I changed fstab to use LABEL for a removable USB drive. Now it is automatically mounted under /media/LABEL rather than the specified location. Reverting to using the device path is not reasonable since I have several mountable USB media. I regard this unwelcome behavoir as a bug rather than a wishlist.
