Bug Description
Flies! I see flies!
The install (looking great, some bugs filed) completed smoothly, and then during the restart I saw the Ubuntu logo with some black-and-white text overlaid, it was brief but looked like plymouth startup / shutdown messages.

I've seen this too, but never quite managed to debug it. Live CD shutdown is horrifically painful to debug since all the evidence vanishes :-(
