Bug Description
Binary package hint: plymouth
This happened after I applied the steps outlined here on my own blog: http://
I had this crash on the first boot immediately after following the steps outlined above. A second and third boot gave no crash, so it might have been a one-time thing.
This isn't a show-stopper bug. It appears not to bring anything down with it, and everything else seems to function just fine.
Using v86d worked fine for 10.04. It solved two problems:
* Fallback text mode used / No Ubuntu logo on startup
* Console text starting near the bottom-right corner
* Text would wrap horizontally
* Text would not wrap vertically -- only 5-or-so lines visible.
Under Ubuntu 11.04, it seems it *might* work.
* Ubuntu logo didn't appear on startup
* It does appear on shutdown
* Doesn't appear to fall back to text mode at least.
* Consoles are now properly displayed.
