Boot screen too verbose when KMS not available

Bug Description
When Kernel Mode Setting is not available (e.g. on my NVIDIA card, in VirtualBox) I see misplaced verbose bootup messages (starting services etc). They usually start from the end of the ". . .".
This does not hinder the system in any way but may trick people into thinking their system is not working properly or has crashed. I don't get this on an Intel card for example.

Not sure if it's a problem with usplash or plymouth but it's about how ubuntu deals with the lack of kms, not the availability of kms in virtualbox.
