Boot screen too verbose when KMS not available

Bug Description

When Kernel Mode Setting is not available (e.g. on my NVIDIA card, in VirtualBox) I see misplaced verbose bootup messages (starting services etc). They usually start from the end of the ". . .".

This does not hinder the system in any way but may trick people into thinking their system is not working properly or has crashed. I don't get this on an Intel card for example.

Attached screenshot of messages in VBox.

Not sure if it's a problem with usplash or plymouth but it's about how ubuntu deals with the lack of kms, not the availability of kms in virtualbox.

Hi Dan,

Is this bug still seen with Ubuntu 11.04?

Not sure, I'll know next week, please bear with me. Until then, you can find out by using vbox or an nvidia card.

Cheers.
