Bug Description

Binary package hint: plymouth

I don't see the new bootup screen on my Dell 11Z running Ubuntu Netbook edition lucid. I had a splashscreen in Karmic and I see the splash when I shut down just not when I boot up.

It sounds like you have the same problem on my Asus eee pc 1001ha. After an upgrade from Karmic i had this issue.

Do the following in a terminal

sudo -s
touch /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/splash
echo FRAMEBUFFER=y > /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/splash
update-initramfs -u
reboot

This forces the framebuffer to load as soon as possible.
