Bug Description
Binary package hint: plymouth
After pressing enter in the grub menu, I'm shown a blank screen (only 80x25 cursor) for 15 seconds, then the boot logo appears for one second, then gdm starts.
Expected more time of splash screen and preferrably less of blank screen.

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and help to improve Ubuntu.
Effectively, this is bug #540801. Although you happen to see the splash screen briefly, where the submitter of that bug doesn't see it at all, the long delay without a splash screen has the same basic cause.
