Bug Description
Binary package hint: plymouth
Coming probably too late in the testing phase... sorry about that.
Have installed the alpha 3 of lucid and have updated today (17/03) to latest packages.
I have not yet seen the fabled plymouth boot sequence. Instead I get the following boot...
grub, 10 seconds of black followed by briefly one fsck "clean" message, black screen with flashing cursor for 20 seconds, couple of black "flashes" during this, before the GDM is displayed.
On shutdown I do briefly see the "Purple Ubuntu" dot-dot-dot-dot screen before close down - I imagine that's the plymouth?
If I can help in anyway in helping to diagnose why plymouth is not displaying on boot for this laptops chipset, then please just guide me on what exra info you need

The splash screen not appearing isn't a bug - the console messages appearing is
(X beat splash)
