Bug Description

Binary package hint: plymouth

The plymouth binary package includes a hard-coded copy of any Ubuntu theme in the directory:

  /lib/plymouth/themes/ubuntu-logo/

Ideally such data should be moved to a 'plymouth-theme-ubuntu' package so that it is a:

 * easily replaced
 * the image data and script can be arch_all, instead of being recompiled and included once per architecture.

The mandatory inclusion of portable, distro-specific image data into a binary package has negative effects upon CD size for derivative distribution (Kubuntu, Xubuntu, ...) and for embedded systems where a package would end up being recompiled in order to replace the images and save space.

Ideally the Ubuntu images and theme should be moved to their own package.
