Plymouth doesn't always shutdown cleanly

Bug Description
Binary package hint: plymouth
Plymouth sometimes shutsdown correctly and displays gdm, other times you are left with the cursor arrow on a black screen.
To remedy this you can just hit enter. When you do you'll hear the error drums and then the gdm appears.
