Graphical splash blocks boot-up in artful setup on virt-manager/qemu-kvm

Bug Description
Steps to reproduce:
1. Setup a VM in virt-manager/
2. Boot from a daily artful image
3. Select install artful or a live session
4. Boot-up hangs at the graphical splash (Ubuntu logo and dots)
Workaround:
Press Esc once the splash appears to go into text boot-up. It boots and installs successfully.
The graphical splash also blocks reboot.
