Plymouth flicker when kexec-boot is installed and enabled

Bug Description

How to reproduce:
1. Install kexec-tools and reboot.

What you get:
A flickering screen that is ugly, see video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2jDkEEjb0qA&feature=youtu.be

What you should get:
A nice screen.

This is on 15.04, hardware Lenovo Thinkpad W530 (running on discreet intel graphics).

Ubuntu 15.04 (vivid) reached end-of-life on February 4, 2016.
