The error message corresponds to ELIBACC, an errno that I've never seen before in my life. Apparently plymouth itself sets this when it can't dlopen() a related module. According to your bug report, you have a non-standard plymouth theme configured:

/lib/plymouth/themes/bl7-logo/ubuntu-logo.plymouth

What is this theme, and what modules is it looking for?

Hi,

It's a theme for BioLinux 7 (http://nebc.nerc.ac.uk/tools/bio-linux/bio-linux-7-info).

Funny thing is, I have two machines, side by side and the second one is completely fine.

How would I find the modules that it is searching for?

Thanks,
CH

If you don't know this, then please revert to using a standard
Ubuntu-provided plymouth theme package. If you can't reproduce the problem
with an Ubuntu-provided theme, then this is not an Ubuntu bug.

Not in the least.

the standard ubuntu graphics packages don't work, just the ugly text.

But then, plymouth mostly doesn't work anyway

Ha! Fixed it. It was the evil nVIDIA binary bug. This script did the trick: http://www.webupd8.org/2010/10/script-to-fix-ubuntu-plymouth-for.html

Please close.
