Bug Description

Support requested I open a bug report to get this resolved

Support case - https://support-portal.canonical.com/tickets/00421967

REDFS is a new POSIX filesystem that DDN is releasing as part of the Infinia product

HI

I spoke to Nicholas and Aniket

Nicholas Cabrera <email address hidden>
Aniket Ponkshe <email address hidden>

They both suggested to open a ticket to get this resolved

We have a file system that we don't want to be scanned because it could have 10’s of PB and be mounted on 1000’s of clients.

We would like to get it added to the exception list of /etc/updatedb.conf

cat /etc/updatedb.conf | grep PRUNEFS

PRUNEFS="NFS afs autofs binfmt_misc ceph cgroup cgroup2 cifs coda configfs curlftpfs debugfs devfs devpts devtmpfs ecryptfs ftpfs fuse.ceph fuse.cryfs fuse.encfs fuse.glusterfs fuse.gocryptfs fuse.gvfsd-fuse fuse.mfs fuse.rclone fuse.rozofs fuse.sshfs fusectl fusesmb hugetlbfs iso9660 lustre lustre_lite mfs mqueue ncpfs nfs nfs4 ocfs ocfs2 proc pstore rpc_pipefs securityfs shfs smbfs sysfs tmpfs tracefs udev udf usbfs”

Filesystem is called - redfs

I am happy to discuss on the phone if that helps

Thanks
Ken

Is there an ubuntu package already that contains the client portion of this filesystem, which allows it to be mounted on ubuntu systems? How do you mount it?

No you have to install the Infinia POSIX / REDFS client

Can you show a "mount" output including this fs mounted? Feel free to sanitize paths and names, and only show the redfs line(s).

Do you have a link to this product description, or about redfs? Just so it can be referred to together with this change. I googled a bit, also checked https://www.ddn.com/products/infinia/, but didn't spot it.
