Since my upgrade to oneiric, this happens reproducably upon login to KDE and effectively stops me from using KDE. BTW, not only kded crashes, but also plasma, at the same location in Solid::Control.

Given that this does not allow me to log in to KDE, I would definitely increase this bugs importance.
Note that this also happens in the so-called "failsafe session".

Same problem on upgrade.

I was able to narrow the problem down to the file "servicetype_profilerc" in the ~/.kde/share/config/ directory. Deleting the file solved the problem.

I had a similar problem after upgrading natty->oneiric. Workaround by mike in Comment #9 solved the problem for me.
I attach one of the crash reports generated.
Thanks a lot mike you saved my day :)

I managed to reproduce the error restoring servicetype_profilerc in order to generate a bug report with debugging symbols, which I attach here. Below is the content of the file ~/.kde/share/config/servicetype_profilerc which causes the problem (kded does not crash if this file is not present):

[SolidNetworkManager]
Entry0_Preference=3
Entry0_Service=solidbackends/solid_networkmanager07.desktop
Entry1_Preference=2
Entry1_Service=solidbackends/solid_wicd.desktop
Entry2_Preference=1
Entry2_Service=solidbackends/solid_fakenet.desktop
NumberOfEntries=3

affects: kde4libs (Ubuntu) → plasma-widget-networkmanagement (Ubuntu)
