Bug Description

Binary package hint: plasma-widget-networkmanagement

I recently upgraded my router to a dual band one due to the heavy proliferation of single band wireless networks in my apartment building. I configured up the router and my Vostro accordingly, however, no matter how I configure network manager, it will never-ever reconnect automatic to any router or access point on 5Ghz band unless I explicitly click on it (I have checked the settings, it is set to auto-connect). It will auto-connect to any network that's on a 2.4Ghz band. I've checked this behaviour against 5 networks, same problem in all cases. I'm not sure where the failure is, but I am confused as to why any portion of the network manager would treat an access point operating on the 5Ghz band any differently from an access point operating in the 2.4ghz band with auto-connecting. I would expect network manager to auto-connect to any network that configured to auto-connect to, regardless of the band it's using. What happens is it will automatically connect to all 2.4Ghz networks, but all 5Ghz networks I have to manually select the network to connect to every time (I have been able to replicate this on 5 networks).

I'm running Kubuntu:
