Bug Description
Plasma-vault 5.12.7-0ubuntu0.1 refuses to create a vault on Kubuntu 18.04.1, because CryFS is version 0.9.9-1ubuntu1 and EncFS is version 1.9.2-2build2.
The error says it wants CryFS version 0.9.6 or EncFS version 1.9.1.
I was told on freenode irc on the #kubuntu channel that for an another user with the same versions creating vaults is possible, but in my Plasma-vaults the "next"-button is grayed out because of the error it is perceiving.

As disused on IRC, the error message you are getting is the incorrect one for the problem you have, which is that neither the encfs or cryfs backend are actually installed on your machine.
The wrong error message IS a bug, fixed upstream in:
https:/ /cgit.kde. org/plasma- vault.git/ commit/ ?h=Plasma/ 5.12&id= 5d3face3c1bbe5a 8a40927048b6f1c 3280b26399
