Screen gets pixelated when I choose Bookmarks from Konquerer

When I choose Bookmarks from the menu bar, the entire screen pixelates in a black and white pattern for about 5 -7 seconds. If I randomly click on the screen during that time it pulls up a web page from my bookmarks like if nothing had happened. I'm running plasma netbook 9.10 on an acer aspire one a110.
