2016-06-04 14:53:38 Jeff.m description system Kubuntu 16.04 - backports enabled. uname -a Linux chainsaw-server 4.4.0-22-generic #40-Ubuntu SMP Thu May 12 22:03:46 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux nvidia driver = 364.19 graphics card = nvidia 980 OpenGL version 4.5 X.Org X Server 1.18.3 Release Date: 2016-04-04 X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0 Build Operating System: Linux 3.13.0-86-generic x86_64 Ubuntu Current Operating System: Linux chainsaw-server 4.4.0-22-generic #40-Ubuntu SMP Thu May 12 22:03:46 UTC 2016 x86_64 Kernel command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-4.4.0-22-generic.efi.signed root=UUID=12498d04-a56d-4154-a205-002a33db41d0 ro noprompt quiet splash nomdmonddf nomdmonisw vt.handoff=7 Build Date: 18 May 2016 01:07:07AM xorg-server 2:1.18.3-1ubuntu2.2 (For technical support please see http://www.ubuntu.com/support) Current version of pixman: 0.33.6 When an application is opened the desktop screen flashes. The application can be from wine, konsole, dolphin or any other application. When opened the screen flashes with a black background if it is opened up not as full size. It seems like there is another black layer layer that is flashing alongside the background image. If you move the smaller application window around it "erases" the flashing black background and removes the flashing if you "erase" all of the window. Though when you close and open another application it starts all over. There is not any flashing over a window opened so it takes up the full screen. Flashing only occurs over the desktop wallpaper. Expected results is no screen flashing. system Kubuntu 16.04 - backports enabled. uname -a Linux chainsaw-server 4.4.0-22-generic #40-Ubuntu SMP Thu May 12 22:03:46 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux nvidia driver = 364.19 graphics card = nvidia 980 OpenGL version 4.5 X.Org X Server 1.18.3 Release Date: 2016-04-04 X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0 Build Operating System: Linux 3.13.0-86-generic x86_64 Ubuntu Current Operating System: Linux chainsaw-server 4.4.0-22-generic #40-Ubuntu SMP Thu May 12 22:03:46 UTC 2016 x86_64 Kernel command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-4.4.0-22-generic.efi.signed root=UUID=12498d04-a56d-4154-a205-002a33db41d0 ro noprompt quiet splash nomdmonddf nomdmonisw vt.handoff=7 Build Date: 18 May 2016 01:07:07AM xorg-server 2:1.18.3-1ubuntu2.2 (For technical support please see http://www.ubuntu.com/support) Current version of pixman: 0.33.6 Package associated with bug = plasmashell When an application is opened the desktop screen flashes. Though when you close and open another application it starts all over. There is not any flashing over a window opened so it takes up the full screen. Flashing only occurs over the desktop wallpaper. I have noticed this only happens after running a full screen application like a game. For example I run a game like Dying Light or Left 4 Dead 2 in steam and after I close out of the game, that is when I get the flashing. After a reboot everything is fine until I run another full screen application. I should note when I say full screen it isn't a window that is maximized. Expected results is no screen flashing.

Toggling the Compositor off will stop the issue. When turned back on the flashing will still be there. Expected results is no screen flashing.
