Desktop icons do not appear at login and do not get updated on delete

Layout of desktop is Folder->Desktop
After login, no icons are ahown on the desktop; need to do a refresh from the desktop menu.
When I delete an icon the icon is not removed (the file is!) and I also need to refresh to make the icon disappear.
Moving icon from desktop to folder in dolphin moves file and makes icon disappear, though, that works as expected.

This bug is very old, if it is still an issue please update the bug with information from a supported release.

The issue persists.

Plasma 5.27.8 on a fully updated KUbuntu 23.10 (Mantic).

If I create a file in the Desktop folder (from a shell with touch), it does not appear on the plasma desktop. A refresh (F5) is required to make the icon appear.
If I delete the file in the Desktop folder (from a shell with rm), it does not disappear from the plasma desktop. A refresh (F5) is required to make the icon disappear.

Please advise what information you require for further investigation and how I can retrieve the required information.

Additional info:
All icons appear at login.
When I copy a file from Dolphin to the desktop, the icon for the copied file only appears after refresh (F5 key).
Deleting (both hard and soft/trashcan) a file from the desktop through its context menu makes the icon disappear.

This was fixed in plasma 5.27.10

Mantic will not get point releases, however we do have it in backports!

I did as you advised and I am now at Plasma 5.27.10.

The issue as described recently on 2024-03-08 in this bug report is still there.
