This bug can only be replicated on recent Acer Desktops. The installer successfully completes the installation on other system setups.
Run conditions:
* Using gutsy gibbon's daily alternate cd image (downloaded yesterday 1st October 2007)
* Recent Acer Desktop PC.(Intel dual core 2.0GHz, 512MB RAM, 80GB SATA HD, DVD/CD-RW Drive)
Steps to reproduce:
* Start the text-based installer.
* Add normal setup information and manually setup partitions.
* Continue with the prompts until the installer completes configuring and installing all the default packages in the CD.
Expected Result:
* The installer continues to the next step which is installing GRUB.
Observed Result:
* The installer appears none responsive and waits indefinitely when done installing the last package (which is "tomboy").
Probable root cause:
* The DVD/CD-RW drive may have entered into some sort of power-conserving sleep mode and must be awakened before requesting further data?
Workaround:
* Restart the PC and manually install GRUB.
