Binary package hint: pidgin
Ubuntu has for a while carried a patch to add scrollbars to Pidgin's preferences window if the screen resolution is less than 600 pixels high. In version 1:2.6.2-1ubuntu7 for some reason the patch was changed to add scrollbars if the screen is less than 700 pixels high. This is unncessary and actually degrades the experience for users with 600 pixel high screens as they now have to scroll to use the preferences window even though the window is only about 524 pixels high.
To demonstrate, open Pidgin's preferences window. Next, change your screen resolution to 800x600. The preferences window is usable at this resolution. Close the preferences window and reopen it to see how the preferences window now doesn't work as well.
