I cannot connect to Yahoo Chat - my userid there is alcockell

I expected to log into Yahoo Messenger services cleanly - it worked yesterday.
All my IRC connections have established on Pidgin launch, but Yahoo won't log on. Why?

More importantly - will it be fixed in my current OS before long? I wouldn't feel safe potentially breaking my sole computer...
