pidgin 2.5.8 can't connect to Yahoo!

i'm using the latest pidgin 2.5.8 but can't connect to Yahoo! server some more when i select off line pidgin disappear itself.

Hi,

The version of Pidgin you are currently running is not supported by the Ubuntu release you are running (Ubuntu 8.10). The version of Pidgin which is installed by default (2.5.2) is supported. Please try reproducing this on that version.

I have pidgin 2.5.8 on ubuntu 9.04 and it connects to yahoo just fine. Pidgin versions before 2.5.7 won't connect to yahoo servers last I checked because of upgrades in the protocol on yahoo servers.

anyway thanks for your info... i already downgrade my pidgin 2.5.8 to
pidgin 2.5.2 and its working fine but beside my friends account name
normally got picture but now that picture missing... do you know how to
get it back?

Later versions of Pidgin has already corrected this problem. Although it is not directly Pidgin related but Yahoo!-related.
Fixed. Tested with the latest version 2.6.6 on an Ubuntu 9.10 machine.
