pidgin 2.5.2 fails to connect to QQ

Binary package hint: pidgin

pidgin was working fine with QQ until recently. Now I get the following error log when I try to connect to QQ.
Basically, the Chinese error message says that the connecting client software is too old and must upgrade. This might be happening because the QQ server has upgraded its protocol- while pidgin has remained static.

This is using Ubuntu 9.04. The error log is from the pidgin debug window.

There have been many changes in Ubuntu and Pidgin since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. If you could test the current Ubuntu and Pidgin development version, this would help us a lot. If you can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs by running apport-collect <bug #>, and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
