Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy. Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This particular bug seems to me identical to another one that has already been reported, so it is being marked as such duplicate of bug 389322. Please look at the other bug report to see if there is any missing information that you can provide, to apply the workarounds for the bug. Pidgin 2.5.7 solved that bug, and is hopefully going to be released as an update for Ubuntu.
Additionally, any further discussion regarding the bug should occur in the other report. Feel free to continue to report any other bugs you may find.
Feel free also to remove the duplicate status if you feel that's not the same problem as in that bug.
