I can reproduce this bug on a Windows machine running Pidgin 2.5.2, but I cannot on my Jaunty machine running 2.5.4, so I assume this bug has been fixed. Jaunty (Ubuntu 9.04) will be out next month with the newer version of Pidgin which should work. If it doesn't, please file a new bug.
