Bug Description

Binary package hint: pidgin

I get wrong colours and therefore non-readable text, in at least two places:
1a. Summary information on buddy in buddy list (showed below each user's nickname in small font), when user online.
shown unreadable/black text, instead of my theme's Colors->Input boxes->Text color.
1b. Nickname and Summary information on buddy, when user offline.
shown unreadable/black text, instead of my theme's Colors->Input boxes->Text color (or other *visible* color, if we want separate colours for online and offline users)
2. In message window:
In upper left area - same problem as 1a or 1b depending on user status.
Please help.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Could you try to reproduce the same with Ubuntu 8.10 or 9.04? Thanks in advance.

Is it the gray text that is used for the buddy statuses in the Buddy List and for their name when they go away? I've noticed that, too. I changed my theme's background color to compensate.

Still same behavior.
The Theme preferences are shown, with the text color set as white (for both Windows and Input Boxes). The buddy summary is at the top, in a grey color. Shows up ok with that background, not so much other times.

is the issue similar to bug #363845?

It looks like that bug is about it being black when it shouldn't be, specifically idle/away contacts? And this one is about it being grey when it should be whatever you set in theme preferences.
And that bug says it happens sometimes, whereas this one happens all the time. They kind of seem opposite.

This is still not fixed in Jaunty.
It may be partially similar to bug #363845, but I can't verify because this bugreport not have dark theme screenshots.
But this bug is already duplicated to pidgin.im:

jpka, please could you check if this behaviour is still occurring with 2.7.3-1ubuntu3.2 release included in Ubuntu Maverick? Thanks.

Looks like fixed now.
The problem is not easy to catch, as it arises only sometimes.
Currently, i can't reproduce it.
Pidgin 2.7.3 (libpurple 2.7.3)
Thank you
